GETTING TO WITS

SHOULD I MAKE MY OWN TRAVEL ARRANGEMENTS TO ATTEND WITS? WHEN SHOULD I GET THERE?

Official summit activities begin on the evening of Friday, May 4th and will last through the late afternoon of Sunday, May 6th, but pre- and post-conference tours begin Wednesday, May 2 and run through Tuesday, May 8. You can now check out the schedule and sign up for tours!

If you are flying to WITS ’18, you can take advantage of our exclusive Air Canada promotional code. As our official WITS ’18 Canadian airline partner, Air Canada is offering 10% off applicable flights* to WITS attendees.

I’M COMING FROM OUT OF TOWN. WHERE SHOULD I STAY AND HOW SHOULD I GET THERE?

The Fairmont Le Château Frontenac is our official hotel partner, and the host of WITS ‘18. Staying there will ensure you’re close to the action. All WITS sessions will take place atLe Château, and most parties and summit-related activities will also happen at the hotel.

Our room block has an exclusive room rate of just $209 CAD/night (about $154 USD/night) starting on Tuesday the 1st and ending on Thursday the 10th. You can book your room at our special booking link here.

Note: there are only a limited number of rooms available at this rate (Fairmont Castleview and Fairmont Citiview).

 

 

I NEED A ROOMMATE AND/OR A CARPOOL BUDDY. CAN YOU HELP ME?

 

We sure can! We’ve created some basic Google sheets to help you connect with your fellow attendees to find a roommate and/or a carpool buddy. Please note: WITS does not match roommates or carpool buddies. It is still your responsibility to make these connections.

 

GETTING YOURSELF SET UP FOR WITS

WHERE CAN I FIND THE SCHEDULE? DO I NEED TO SIGN UP FOR SESSIONS IN ADVANCE?

 

Our 2018 schedule is now online, and you may notice our schedule format looks pretty snazzy. That’s because it’s built on Sched, our official digital schedule and mobile app this year (past WITS attendees will remember Sched from previous years as well).

As an attendee, your email address has been synced with the app, so once you set up your account, you’ll be able to:

You can also create your own personalized schedule and sync that (or the full schedule) with your Google Calendar or iCal. But fear not: you do NOT need to sign up for sessions in advance.

 

HOW CAN I SIGN UP FOR TOURS?

Thanks to our incredible host sponsor, Québec City Tourism, we have a fantastic lineup of tours available to WITS ’18 attendees before and after the official summit weekend. From sampling your way through Québec’s unique food scene to learning about the rich history of the Huron-Wendat Nation, the only indigenous community of Québec City, your tour experiences are sure to be a highlight of your time in #quebecregion.

A wide variety of tours are available at multiple times before and after the conference. Learn more about the tours here, and register through the Eventbrite links (found here or via the schedule).

NOTE: If you are unable to make a tour, please cancel your reservation via Eventbrite so that others may enjoy the experience.

 

WHAT IS TRAVTRADE AND HOW CAN I USE IT TO NETWORK BEFORE WITS?

 

We know one of the reasons you come to WITS is to meet and mingle with all our amazing sponsors and/or influencers. But what if you could form meaningful relationships with others in attendance long before you introduce yourself in person in May?

Re-introducing TravTrade, our official online networking platform!

After introducing TravTrade as a pilot project in 2017, we’re thrilled to provide this interactive platform to bring the WITS networking opportunities to life in the months leading up to the conference.

How does it work?

We are currently rolling out login details for TravTrade for registered attendees to get everyone on this platform as soon as possible. If you’ve already registered for WITS ’18, keep your eyes peeled – you’ll get your TravTrade login in your email soon! And once you do, you’ll be able to:

PACKING AND PREPARING FOR WITS

WHAT SHOULD I BRING TO WITS? IS THERE A DRESS CODE?

There is no official dress code for WITS, but we recommend attendees dress business casual. You’ll be networking with and meeting other bloggers, travelers, and organization/brand reps, after all! We also recommend bringing something to take notes with, whether that be a laptop, tablet, phone, or notebook – whatever is most comfortable for you!

 

IS THERE WIFI AT WITS?

But of course! We offer free WiFi for all attendees at the summit — especially so you can tweet, Facebook, and Instagram up a storm! Be sure to use our official #WITS18 hashtag, and show #quebecregion some love, as well. (P.S. You don’t have to wait until the conference to use these hashtags — please feel free to post away at any time!)

 

I HEARD THERE ARE GIVEAWAYS! WHO’S ELIGIBLE TO ENTER?

If we do have giveaways, every WITS attendee will be automatically entered to win. This includes all general attendees, speakers, brand or organization representatives, volunteers, and planning team members. We will be giving away prizes during plenary sessions throughout the weekend, and you must be present if your name is called in order to claim your prize.

We may also have special giveaways for specific prizes throughout the weekend. We’ll be sure to let all attendees know how to register for these during the summit!

 

WHAT MEALS WILL BE OFFERED AT THE SUMMIT? WHERE DO I REPORT ANY DIETARY RESTRICTIONS OR SPECIAL NEEDS?

Breakfast and lunch on Saturday, as well as coffee breaks and our famous Sunday Brunch will be offered at the summit. Locations for dinner offsite will be recommended as we near our WITS date. This information is subject to change (but you can count on always having coffee!).

Part of our commitment to inclusion also includes a commitment to accessibility. If you require any assistance (including dietary specifications, physical assistance, visual or audio aid, etc), please share this in the appropriate section when purchasing your ticket, or send us an email at any time.

 

WILL THE WITS SESSIONS BE AVAILABLE TO STREAM OR WATCH ONLINE?

At this point, we will not be live-streaming WITS or recording any of the sessions in full (although we’ve been known to broadcast our keynotes on Facebook Live). If that changes, we will gladly let you know!
