The world is a big place.
It’s not always perfect, but we hope to make your experience as safe as it can be, whether you’re opening your home to another traveler or staying with a Wanderful hostess.
What we do
Every hostess and every traveler is vetted by a member of the Wanderful team through a five-minute orientation and video verification call.
Our guest review process helps you know what to expect from your homestay with each of our hostesses.
What you can do
Whether you’re using the Wanderful network or traveling on your own, we hope you will be safe and use your best judgment. Here’s some tips on having the safest experience possible when traveling.
If traveling outside of your country, register with your local embassy so they can contact you in case of emergency. Get a data plan for your trip or load your Skype account in case you need it. Leave your valuables (whether financial or sentimental) at home. Get travel tips from the Wanderful Facebook group your destination’s local chapter.
Know your surroundings
Have the address of your homestay written down in the local language and mark your home on a map in case you get lost. Take time to explore your neighborhood during the day to get your bearings.
Make sure a loved one knows where you are and has a number to reach you. Your local hostess can be a great resource — use her to get insider tips about her home city and recommendations about your visit.
