Membership is now free.

Not long ago, I was talking to one of our newest organizers based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. We were discussing her new Wanderful chapter and how she was going to start bringing women travelers together in her city.

She mentioned how much she loved our network and the people in it. How much she wanted all of the women in her community to not only be a part of our sisterhood, but to thrive in it. But then the next thing she said really stuck with me.

She said that most of the women she knew would not be able to afford our annual membership fee.

With the exchange rate, plus local economics, US $119/year would be prohibitively expensive.

I thought long and hard about that one. Here in Boston, $119 is what you might spend on a night out with a friend or partner. Yet around the world, it’s very different. $100 might be the cost of a studio apartment in Thailand, or dinner with nine friends in Ecuador.

The special thing about Wanderful is that we encompass women around the world from a variety of backgrounds and ages. But we need to walk our talk and make sure that anyone — no matter her home country, or her financial situation — can be a part of our powerful community.

That’s why I, with the support of the amazing Wanderful team, have decided to make Wanderful membership free.

That’s right. Starting today, you can join Wanderful for free. No hidden fees. No strings attached. No annual commitment. Free.

We are terrified. And excited. We have big dreams for our sisterhood, and we can’t wait to see the interesting, kind, intelligent, passionate, insightful women who are able to join us now that this barrier has been lifted. If you haven’t signed up as a member yet, we hope you are one of them.

If you like what we’re doing, I’d love for you to show your support:

1. Be a member.

It takes about 45 seconds to sign up in the navigation bar above. After that, you’ll need to complete your profile and go through the video verification process, which consists of a five minute video call with a member of the Wanderul team. That’s it.

If you’re already a member, make sure you login to your profile and get verified if you haven’t done so yet.

2. Share your home.

We’re actively looking for hosts to list their homes in our brand new homesharing network. If you have an extra bedroom or a guest apartment, you can make money hosting another Wanderful woman in your city by submitting a listing to Wanderful today. Learn more about hostessing here.

3. Join a chapter (or start one)

We now have 28 amazing chapters around the world, which bring women travelers together and connect them to each other (whether they live in town or are just passing through). We invite you to join a chapter or take a leadership role and start one.

4. Share Wanderful with a friend

Now that membership is free, our goal is to grow. We want to reach 30,000 women around the world in the next year. Help us get there by forwarding this email or sharing Wanderful with a friend. You can also use the below links on Twitter:
