Finalist 1: Amy
“I want to inspire people to take a break from their work & daily lives to explore the world and live with a little more love + happiness. I believe travel broadens the mind + nourishes the soul — or at the very least, allows for a deep breath and a break. Collecting moments + experiences, not things, allows you to endlessly create yourself!”
Finalist 2: Michele
“Born and raised in Brazil, Grandma’s house was my kingdom filled with obstacles, an avocado tree and fairy creatures. Playing with my cousins and neighbors in her muddy backyard I grew up with the desire to explore and see the world I used to create. Today I have the chance to hop the world with the ‘one and only’ and explore life’s endlessly mysteries.
“Homesickness is something I become an expert in every holiday season and turning into a local in every new home is easy as 1,2,3. Ever since I started traveling, far away does not exist, my life is packed with learning, sharing, inspiring people and delightful experiences. In other words, I became the person inside me and opted to keep experiences other than things.
“I try to explain to my mom that friendship in the 21st century happens in many different ways: in-person friends, Facebook friends, Skype friends, WhatsApp friends, travel friends, and the list goes on. Traveling has given me the most treasured moments in my life and when the challenges come along the way with no mercy…the thing is…I have chosen to fight it just like when I was growing up in Grandma’s backyard, except that this time around I turn avocados into guacamole.”
Finalist 3: Ashley
“From the wee age of 8 I have been an independent Go Girl, learning languages, exploring cultures, and lusting after every travel experience I could get! My adventurous spirit took me to 30 countries before the age of 25 and I can only imagine where it will lead me in the future. My career has stemmed from my belief in global citizenship and self discovery. Working in international education, and now joining the fabulous team at GoAbroad.com, has solidified my passion for helping others explore the world! My personal and professional life are rooted in the belief that international education is an investment in oneself. I love to spread and advocate this wherever I go! Making solo female travel more accessible to young girls, and supporting other Go Girls is a big part of what I love. I was so inspired to be at the 1st Women in Travel Summit and I cannot wait to contribute more next year! ”
Finalist 4: Andrea
“I am an eager world traveler. I have worked as a journalist on travelling issues – like Nat Geo Traveller Mexico, and I try to visit a new country at least once a year.
“When I first heard about WITS, I knew I had to be there!”
