Nikki Vargas is Travel Editor of Culture Trip, covering humanitarian issues, travel news, animal rights and global stories. Nikki is also Host and Producer of the original Culture Trip series, Hungerlust, which explores the various cultures of NYC through the lens of food. Since joining Culture Trip in 2016, Nikki has traveled to Iceland to report on the controversial whaling industry, Bali to expose the dog meat trade, Borneo to report on the effects of palm oil deforestation, Paris for the historic 2017 election and Colombia to write about the FARC peace deal.
Nikki’s previous work has appeared on VICE, Roads & Kingdoms, Huffpost, NPR and more. In addition, Nikki is the Founder of The Pin the Map Project, voted a top 100 travel blog of 2015. Nikki was a speaker at the New York Travel Fest, Women’s Travel Fest and The New York Times Travel Show, as well as a guest commentator on NPR Weekend Edition and Cheddar TV Live.
