Québec City Tourism and its partners are very happy to welcome WITS ’18 attendees to the iconic Fairmont Le Château Frontenac. We can’t wait for you to explore our beautiful city and area. A week rich in learning, discoveries and new friends awaits you. Here are a few tips to make the most out of your visit:
Must-Do Things in Québec City
What’s great with WITS’ 18 pre- and post-conference tours is that they allow you to see some of Québec City’s top attractions and experience our French Canadian culture. But if you have some extra time, make sure to stop by Parc de la Chute-Montmorency to see a waterfall 30 meters higher than Niagara Falls, stroll Old Québec’s cobbled streets to admire its unique architecture and take amazing pictures, take the ferry for the incredible view on Château Frontenac and St. Lawrence River, try the famous poutine, taste our craft beers and enjoy a live folk music show in a festive local pub!
Get Off the Beaten Track and Meet Locals
Another great way to visit Québec City is to explore its different neighborhoods outside Old Québec’s walls, off the classic tourist path. Each neighborhood has its own soul and it’s also a good opportunity to meet and socialize with locals. Discover the bohemian district Saint-Jean Baptiste, the artistic district Montcalm, the trendy district Saint-Roch, the edgy district Saint-Sauveur and the easy-going district Limoilou!
A Foodie’s Paradise for Every Taste
Québec cuisine is innovative and proudly local. Hailed as a top foodie destination, Québec City has restaurants and food artisans that will make your taste buds dance.
You Don’t Speak French… Don’t Worry, Be Happy
English visitors and tourists are welcomed with open arms in Québec City. English is widely spoken in tourist areas so don’t let your lack of French skills keep you from exploring the city. There are for sure a few cultural things to consider and basic French words good to know. In the end, we just love hearing you say: “Bonjour” with a smile. It makes our heart melt!
